RuZ1 - Sustainable Resource Conservation

Zinc is a natural element

As one of the most frequent constituents of the Earth's crust it is a raw material, a material and at the same time an important building block of our lives. The production of RuZ1 quality zinc from Datteln is aligned on the basis of sustainable resource conservation.

We use more than 40% recycling material for the production of primary zinc. That is unique throughout the world.

The entire production process manages without fossil energies. Process and waste heat is used again in the production process itself or for hot water preparation and heating for social amenities and offices.

As a result of our high rate of multiple water re-use in the process circuit the intake quantity from the Dortmund-Ems Canal is minimal.

All of the processes as well as all filters, waste air and waste water plants are continuously inspected by the Regional Environmental Office of the Land of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW). All of the values are below the tolerances prescribed by law.
