On the basis of process engineering innovations which were already protected by patents more than 10 years ago, we are in a position to use more than 40 % secondary raw materials (Waelz oxide) for the production of our high-quality zinc RuZ1. As a result, RuhrZink occupies an internationally leading position.

The use of Waelz oxide, i.e., treated filter dusts from steel production with a high zinc percentage, conserves resources and is an active contribution to the sustainable handling of energy and raw materials.

Also for the cleaning of waste water and waste air we have transferred an extremely high amount of technical know-how to practice by means of tailor-made optimization and process-engineering adaptation of filter units, scrubbers and process components.
